Admittedly confined to our homes indefinitely is far from ideal, which is why I believe it’s so important to cultivate moments of joy where you can – even if briefly.
In an attempt to make the best out of a bad situation below I have selected a carefully curate list of guilty pleasures watches everyone needs to know about.
ON STAN...
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: After an unusual event, Zoey Clarke suddenly starts to hear the
innermost wants, thoughts and desires of the people around her through popular songs. Think Glee meets Pitch Perfect.
Special mentions: The Bold Type, All American, Will & Grace, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, Grey’s Anatomy (yes, all 16 seasons), Better Call Saul, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Billions (season five starts May 3).
Hunters: Starring Al Pacino and set in the late ‘70s, it’s about a motley group of Nazi hunters tracking down high-ranking Nazi officials who had committed murders in Jewish concentration camps but are now living in New York. It’s a bit Tarantino in that it’s highly stylised and has extremely quirky characters including Aussie Kate Mulvany.
Special mentions: Fleabag, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, This Is Us, Goliath, Jack Ryan, Modern Love, The Test: A New Era for Australia's Team (I didn’t watch this one because cricket – ewww! – but my cricket-fan friends loved it)
NETFLIX
Ozark: This tells the story of a family forced to flee to the Ozark Mountains after a money-laundering operation in Chicago goes wrong. It stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney who are both outstanding.
Special mentions: Cheer, The Stranger, Love Is Blind, The Crown, Dead to Me, You, Mindhunter
