Save for a house
Younger generations are buying less houses than generations gone by. Student debt and a high cost of living means home ownership is not only frightening but for many of us, it’s quite simply been out of our reach. Pass your driving test
It’s a fact- millennials aren’t driving until later than generations gone by. They’re also buying less cars. One reason for this is as a generation, we tend to prefer living in large cities where having your own vehicle is less essential. And again, finances prevent many millennials from becoming drivers early on, since insurance costs are way up. Even if you live in a big city with lots of transport now, this might not always be the case. It’s always worth passing your tests so you can drive if you need to, even if it’s later down the line.
It could improve your job prospects and gives you so much independence too.
Get established in your career
Research shows that millennial's are very career focused. While we tend to put career progression as a top priority, things don’t always go the way we planned. Figures suggest that millennial's tend to job hop and resign much more freely than older employees. Set goals for your career and do what you can to work towards them. If a job isn’t working out for you or getting you to where you need to be then there’s nothing wrong with leaving to find something else. But don’t give up at the first hurdle, and be realistic in what you expect. Having a side hustle or another stream of income is also well worth doing, and now we live in such an online age it’s easier to do this than ever.
