Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney fooled us all and we don’t know what to believe anymore

Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney recently admitted to embracing rumours surrounding their relationship leading up to the release of Anyone But You.

In an interview with The New York Times, Powell addressed previous speculation about an affair with Sweeney. The rumors surfaced while they were filming the movie in Australia in 2023, amidst reports of Powell's breakup with his ex-girlfriend, Gigi Paris, and Sweeney's engagement to Jonathan Davino, an executive producer of the film.

Both Powell and Sweeney admitted to intentionally fueling the rumors to enhance their on-screen chemistry and ensure the success of their movie.

Glen Powell Sydney Sweeney
Well played Sydney, well played.

“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry,” Powell said. “That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully.”

Sweeney elaborated on the strategy, outlining her desire for the pair to maintain a public presence together despite the circulating dating rumours.

She persuaded Sony to release a TikTok video featuring her and Glen whispering suggestive "ASMR pickup lines," a bold strategy that quickly captured the internet's interest.

The video went viral, accumulating almost 25 million views, demonstrating that unconventional ideas can often stand out amidst the competition.

So it seems we’ve been living a lie and Sydney Sweeney has a future in PR and marketing should she ever decide to step away from acting!

The film has made well over $200m globally from a $25 million budget.
