How amazing is the feeling of having a clear, clean home? That fresh feeling, both in your home and in your mind is something that money can’t buy. It gets even better when you know you’ve spent far too long putting off a good home clear out. Actually getting the motivation to get off the sofa and do it can be all too much for some people. But with Christmas around the corner, now is the perfect time to get your home in order!
Let Go Of Your Inner Hoarder
First things first, you really do need to let go of your inner hoarder. Last time you had a big clean out, you might have been a little too picky as to what could stay, and what could go.
But this time, we’re going to change that mindset. Here are two rules that will make it super easy to complete this clear out. Number one, if you haven’t used it in the last 6 months, it has to go. You would say a couple of months sooner, but a lot of you would make excuses as to why you haven’t used that chopping board in the last few months, perhaps it was a ‘special use’ chopping board. But generally as a rule, if you haven’t used it in 6 months, you’re probably not going to use it at all.
You’ll generally find that the items you need to throw out will pile up and up, so it might be worth having a look at links such as https://www.samedayrubbishremoval.com.au/Rubbish-Removal-Sydney-CBD.php to get a company to do it for you. It saves you a lot of hassle trying to take all of that rubbish out one by one, sorting it in to piles.
Second rule is to think about what you could replace it with. If takes away the negative of knowing you’re going to lose out on an item, and replaces it with the positive of knowing you’re getting something new!
Sell, sell, sell!
If you're having trouble parting with certain items, consider selling them and using the money you make as a sweetener. Who doesn't love a bit of extra cash around Christmas, right?! eBay is the obvious choice of selling platform, but Gumtree is also a great one, especially if you want a quick, local sale!
Actually Do A Bit Of Cleaning
Once you're done with the clear out itself, how about giving the house a really good clean. Now I'm not trying to say that you don’t clean, but how often will you admit that you have done a deep clean? There's no judgement here, there’s nothing more tedious than a deep clean. But, if you’re having a clear out, it’s the perfect opportunity to spritz the place up a bit. I recommend following guides such as this, they give great information on how you can clean every inch of your house, leaving it refreshed as well as your mind!
