Moving house can easily become a stressful experience. If you're planning on moving soon but are a little fearful of jumping into the chaos - try not to worry - we all get slightly on edge when thinking about the idea. There's always so much to do, and you won't know whether you're truly ready until it's too late. Which this is why it's important to plan ahead so you can follow a structure and stay in control.
Now, everyone has their own way of doing things, but if you're not sure which direction to go in, you'll want to focus on the main areas first, and then everything else should fall behind. If you need some ideas to get you started and make life easier for yourself, here's few to get you on the right track.
Stay ahead of the game
All you need to do is plan things in advance and keep note of everything as you go. For example, it isn't just about the demanding physical aspect that moving requires of you. You also need to think about the subscription side of things, like your TV and internet provider, and any other services that you pay for. They'll need to be cancelled, or have new details given to them so that you aren't paying any unnecessary fees when they're no longer in use. Not only that, but you'll be able to jump right back in from where you left off in your new home if planned correctly.
Have a clear out
Moving homes is a great excuse to get rid of old clothes and junk you don't use anymore. Our rule? If you haven't worn or used it in 6 months, throw it out. And remember, if it's still in good condition, donate it to charity!
Have the right transport
If you only have your own small vehicle to transport all of your belongings in, you're going to have to make a lot of trips until your old house is empty and spotless. One way to simplify this, is to consider looking at a company that offers out van and ute hire. This will allow you to stay in control and have the freedom of doing things the way you want to do them, but while giving you the necessary space that you need, that will not only fit your things inside, but be a lot safer on the journey too.
Call for some helping hands
If you find yourself struggling more than you thought you would, then there's no reason that you should ever feel as though you need to hold back from making a few phone calls and asking your friends and family members to come and help out. In fact, you can make it into a fun day with drinks flowing, music blasting through the speakers, and creating those final memories in your old house, before making many more in your new one.
Hiring removalists or a cleaning company to come in and give the home a final once over is also great if you've been renting and want your bond back!
