7 products to add into your Summer skincare regime

As the season transitions from cold to warm, our skin undergoes a similar transformation.

Gone are the days of a dry and scaly complexion, now replaced with harsh UV rays and an oily sheen.

If our skin is changing, it only makes sense that our routine has to change too!

The thick winter moisturisers are no longer our go-to, and a strong SPF is our new best friend.

Here are my top 7 products to add into your Summer skincare regime:

Step up your sun protection

No matter the temperature, daily sun protection is a non-negotiable. Look for a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 and apply it generously to all exposed areas of your skin - including lips and ears!

Remember to reapply regularly, especially if you're sunbathing, swimming, or sweating. The general rule

is to reapply every two hours, but if you're enjoying water activities, make it a habit to reapply after

every dip. Sunscreen is your first line of defence against sunburn, premature ageing, and more serious

concerns like skin cancer, so embrace it!

Reinforce with an antioxidant serum

The brighter months provide an ideal environment for antioxidant serums to work their magic.

Antioxidants help to prevent hyperpigmentation, keep your skin healthy, and enhance the effectiveness of your sunscreen. Think of them as your secret weapon against environmental stressors.

Adding a serum packed with ingredients like vitamin C, resveratrol, niacinamide, & vitamin E to your morning routine will give your skin an extra layer of protection.

Apply your antioxidant serum before your sunscreen for the best results.

Switch to a lighter moisturiser

As you trade in your winter coats for lighter layers, consider doing the same with your moisturiser.

Unless you have dry skin or are dealing with post-tret (retinoid) peeling, you'll likely find that the rich

cream you use during the winter is no longer necessary.

Opt for a lightweight cream or a refreshing gel formula that will provide the right amount of moisture for your skin while allowing it to breathe. The warmth of summer can lead to increased oil production, making a lighter moisturiser a welcome change.

Layer in your hydration with a hydrating mist

Summer weather can be unpredictable, with sudden switches of temperature between outdoor heat

and air conditioning, not to mention extra sun exposure, chlorine and seawater. These factors can leave

your skin feeling very parched.

A hydrating mist can be a refreshing pick-me-up throughout the day, helping your skin stay moist and supple. An essence, applied after cleansing and before serums, can deliver an extra layer of hydration that your skin will thank you for.

Add a Wide-Brimmed Hat to your wardobe

In the battle against the suns powerful rays, a wide-brimmed hat is an unsung hero. While caps may provide some shade to your face, a wide-brimmed hat offers superior protection. It shields not only

your face but also your neck, ears, and even shoulders from the suns harsh rays.

As a professional aesthetician, I often encounter individuals seeking treatment for hyperpigmentation

who are perplexed as to why they continue to develop pigmentation on the sides of their face. One of

the common culprits is the use of baseball caps.

Use of Retinoids

There's a common myth that you should avoid using over-the-counter retinoids during the summer, as

they can increase sun sensitivity. This is not entirely accurate.

Over-the-counter retinoids, such as retinol, are generally safe for use year-round and can complement your summer skincare routine.

If you choose to incorporate over-the-counter retinoids into your summer skincare routine, it is essential to use them at night and pair them with proper sun protection during the day.

The Chilling Benefits of Cryo and Ice Tools

Incorporating ice cryo facial tools offer a refreshing and beneficial twist to your daily regimen.

These cooling treatments help soothe sun-exposed skin, reduce inflammation, and provide a rejuvenating

experience. They can be your secret weapons to beat the summer heat while maintaining healthy, radiant skin.

Enjoy the beauty of summer, and let your skin glow!
